TITLE:  Inside Sales Specialist, Emerging Business

LOCATION: Bridgewater, NJ

REPORTS TO: Inside Sales Team Lead, Emerging Business


Ingredion is hiring an Inside Sales Specialist for its newly formed Emerging Business team in North America. This team is focused on nurturing and developing business with Emerging Food and Beverage companies in the market place.  This individual will follow up on leads, working directly with customers from lead inception to close of the sale. This individual will play a critical role in driving leads through the sales funnel and driving sales opportunities to close working cross functionally within the organization. The role is cross functional in nature and will have a direct effect on the customer experience, particularly with small and medium size companies.


As an Inside Sales Specialist, Emerging Business, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead follow-up /Selling - Manage a territory of small “inside sales” customers.

Directly call customers to follow-up on leads. Draft and send e-mail correspondence to customers regarding customer interest in Ingredion products. Create standard and customized e-mail templates that can be used for follow-up. Provide pricing to customers based on request and close sales. Work collaboratively with other colleagues to troubleshoot customer issues and cover projects. Ensure a smooth transition to outside sales representatives or distributors after projects close. Work collaboratively with distributor partners on opportunities/projects.


  • - Manage all assigned leads through the sales funnel within Convert leads to opportunities in the “pre-qualified” stage, which allows for accurate ROI tracking. Document all customer interaction in and log opportunities in the system. Ensure accuracy of data and opportunity size. Use to arrange samples to be shipped to customers.


  • Product Expertise-Work with customers to solve technical issues. Become a functional expert on key product lines in the product portfolio across our Ingredient and Sweetener Solutions divisions. Play a critical role as the first link in the sales process in North America. Provide customers with product recommendations that allow customers to utilize Ingredion products. Collaborate with Technical service team to provide solutions for customers.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • 4 year college degree, preferably in food science with an interest in taking on a role in Sales
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects. Flawless follow-up skills to ensure that projects with customer move to close.
  • Ability to be pleasantly persistent with customers. Must have a positive attitude and pleasant phone manner.
  • Ability to understand when to escalate customer projects to management due to internal or customer issues.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships with key members of the Ingredion Go-To-Market team and work within multiple levels of the organization.  
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency with windows based software programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and; Proficiency in MS Outlook.        
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
