Primary Function

Responsible for leading the site to improved levels of productivity, profitability, and efficiency through the management and execution of the capital plan and engineering resources.

 

Supervision: All Process Engineers

 

Key Deliverables

Business

  • Oversee and manage controls for plant engineering budgets
  • Contribute to the development of the Plant’s Capital Plan for growth, improvements, and reliability
  • Ensure regulatory and company compliance with all applicable standards, procedures, and best working practices
  • Ensure that all engineering activities comply with accepted food safety and engineering standards
  • Provide clear leadership to all personnel within the Engineering functions on site in the realm of SHE, including such aspects as (i) adherence to site instructions such as permit to Work,         (ii) ensuring all incidents, illnesses, and injuries are investigated using RCA analysis techniques and are completed in a timely fashion, (iii) development and management of annual departmental SHE objectives, (iv) and contractor safety compliance
  • Establish a proactive, controlled, and disciplined approach to the engineering development function of the site’s operations
  • Generate a committed, efficient, and team-oriented attitude/philosophy and performance within the area of Engineering in support of the Plant’s operations

 

Agility and Innovation

  • Drive improvement initiatives to reduce cost and increase efficiency
  • Identify technologies and methodologies in the greater industry that apply to the site, and develop strategies for implementation
  • Active participant in external Professional and Trade organizations

 

Relationships and People

  • Manage, coach, and lead the site Process Engineering Group, working closely with Operations and within the capital plan
  • Manage and develop an Engineering team that provides process support and continuous improvements to the plant
  • Manage the development and training of Engineers in professional Project Management, troubleshooting, and problem solving
  • Encourage and develop the external relationships among the department staffs and with other locations across the businesses

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in a technical field such as Engineering
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Sound technical ability and experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and company regulations and procedures
  • Good computer skills
  • Excellent skills, experience, and training in Project Management
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and plant mechanical inventory systems
