Position Location:  Richland, WA

Business Unit:  US/Canada Food and Beverage


Primary Function

Responsible for the Richland site Health, Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Training functions. The role will interface with the North America functional organizations, regulatory agencies, and customers to implement and improve upon the policies, procedures, and activities associated with operational excellence in these functional areas.

Key Deliverables




Health and Safety:


  • Responsible for the administration of the Health and Safety EXP Database
  • Responsible for adopting, developing, and implementing programs and policies that are identified in Ingredion as best practices in safety.
  • Represent the site to governmental and third party organizations, including customers.
  • Ensure compliance of the site with all governmental and Ingredion regulations.
  • Responsible for reporting and interfacing with North America and Global EHS functions.
  • Lead improvements and actions versus gaps in the EHSMS. 




  • Responsible for collecting data and reporting performance to the internal organization.
  • Represent the site to governmental and third party organizations, including customers.
  • Responsible for responding to customer complaints, CARs, and CAPAs.
  • Provide the interface, data and support to North America Quality.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental and Ingredion regulations.
  • Lead improvements and actions versus gaps in EHSMS.

Ensure compliance for all products to all prescribed specifications.


Agility and Innovation


Continuous Improvement:

  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt

  • Responsible for completing 1-2 projects per year

  • Interface with the North America Continuous Improvement organization.

  • Seek and implement opportunities to reduce waste and cost within the plant.

Relationships and People

  • Administration of the internal Achieve Learning Training System.

  • Responsible for validating training requirements, and develop new programs and modules to support the ongoing development of the site hourly employees.

  • Primary interface with Ingredion North America Talent Development network.

Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA requirements for health and safety.

  • Practical understanding of Ingredion quality systems, microbiology, and physical and chemical characteristics of starch.

  • Analytic thinking and troubleshooting skills with a Lean Six Sigma background a plus.

  • Working knowledge of SAP.

  • Strong leadership skills, and flexible interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and in a variety of cultures – both internal and external.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both in creation and execution.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, chemistry, biology, or microbiology.

  • Minimum five years of experience in EHS or Quality.
