Primary Function

Provide a broad range of engineering expertise and technical support to all divisions of Ingredion in support of their safety, quality, manufacturing and business goals. This includes process and equipment troubleshooting and optimization, development and review of potential projects and support during major project implementation, participation and leadership of continuous improvement teams. Provide a high level of technical leadership through mentoring, leading task forces and answering technical requests. Provide coordination to assure that Ingredion has, or has access to, the best technology in its business units worldwide.

Key Deliverables

 

Business

  • Provide engineering and technical expertise as requested to enable the optimum operation of processing facilities worldwide.       This includes: engineering studies, systems and equipment specifications, selection, design, testing, troubleshooting and optimization, due diligence studies, consulting on safety, regulatory, risk management, maintenance and utilities.

  • Provide technical consulting assistance to Ingredion and outside engineering personnel in project management, construction management, planning, development, engineering, design, project controls, equipment specifications, procurement, project reviews, installation, checkout, start-up, and testing, troubleshooting, optimization to support project goals and plant objectives.

  • Review and recommend appropriate equipment and systems for new projects and existing installations to ensure that they comply with known safety best practices, applicable codes and standards.

 

Agility and Innovation

 

  • Maintain a high level of awareness of current and emerging technologies and make recommendations on their application to improve profitability of operations worldwide.

  • Review and evaluate proposed projects as requested to ensure optimum technology selection, complete scope inclusion, systems and equipment are properly sized, adequate budget cost estimate is provided, the proposed schedule is adequate for the scope of work and alignment with business goals.

  • Provide the technical support required for the negotiations of national and international contracts for selected manufacturing supplies and equipment, capital purchases, engineering services, and construction services that will ensure cost effectiveness to all locations served by the contracts.

  • Develop new ideas, concepts or techniques that may be useful to our business and operations.

Relationships and People

 

  • Provide technical support and leadership to task force teams that focus on collaborative optimization to promote manufacturing excellence.

  • Maintain the Company’s intellectual property to ensure competitiveness through proper record retention, mentoring engineers, and preparation of best practices and design manuals.

  • Share engineering practices throughout the organization to ensure leveraging of technical resources.

  • Create team environment that delivers innovative process improvements and provides process troubleshooting to resolve complex business issues.

  • Provide coaching and develop tools to improve engineering and project management skills throughout the entire organization.

  • Promote use of employees’ network to reduce costs, improve efficiency and spur innovation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical) with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the Corn Wet Milling industry.
  • Knowledge of the Corn Wet Milling industry with substantial experience in manufacturing, engineering, and/or project execution.
  • Experience in the operation and design of Wet Milling is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems as applied to facilities design, operations consulting, equipment failures and maintenance troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare effective presentations, present tests and results, and write concise reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to train and work effectively with all experience levels.
  • Proven ability of influencing others towards positive change both inside and outside the direct chain of command.
  • Travel may constitute up to 30 percent of the time on the job and may consist of consecutive weeks in any of the Company facilities worldwide.
  • Fluency in English required. A working knowledge of a Latin or Asian language would be a plus.
