Title: Engineer

Position Location: Stockton, CA

Business Unit: NA Manufacturing

 

Primary Function

To manage capital projects/permits from conception through start-up, monitor process conditions and identify and implement process improvements to allow the plant to meet operational and economic goals

 

Supervision: Contractors and Project Team Members

 

Key Deliverables

  • Comply with policies and procedures including safety, quality and regulatory.
  • Design and implement capital permits and projects as assigned, within budget, delivering targeted return on investment and in compliance with engineering standards.
  • Supervise and execute projects, establish and meet budget, schedule and supervise project activity, train personnel, supervise start-up, coordinate with all departments.
  • Supervise the water treatment program for process cooling towers and gas turbine waste heat boiler ensuring that adequate water quality is maintained in the most cost effective manner.
  • Serve as a back-up to the engineering manager to monitor the operation of the gas turbine ensuring reliable and cost effective operation.
  • Actively participate in Root Cause Analysis discussions and implement solutions Identified.
  • Monitor plant operations for use of manufacturing supplies and implement processes and programs that maintain or exceed quality and production goals while minimizing supply costs.
  • Provide Engineering studies, designs, and justifications for approval to support Operations needs.
  • Effectively manage projects including proper preparation and strategic planning, engage customers for feedback, provide awareness to those impacted, provide training and ensure all documentation is updated& design objectives are met.    
  • Provide technical support to maintenance, operations and other departments including process studies, troubleshooting, process optimization and other assistance as required in order to support achievement of current cost, production, safety and quality goals and achieve long term improvement in these areas.   

Qualification Requirements: 

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Chemical preferred) or equivalent in experience.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze historical data, monitor key efficiencies and parameters against design to assist Operations with troubleshooting and meeting cost& production goals.
  • Three + years engineering experience demonstrating successful implementation of Solutions, effective project management of large scale projects over $500k and experience directing outside consultants, and assists with the supervision of junior engineers.
  • Knowledge of the Wet Milling industry or relevant experience in other industries (food, chemical, bio-chemical or pharmaceutical) with substantial experience in research, engineering, or manufacturing. Experience in the manufacture of sweeteners from starch, a plus.
  • Knowledge of engineering and unit operations relevant to the Wet Milling industry, such as basic chemistry, heat and material balances, P&ID development, mechanical and physical/chemical separations, evaporation, crystallization, drying, material handling, CGMP, and energy management.
