    Job Title:  Health & Safety Manager

    Location:  North Kansas City, MO

     

    Ingredion is hiring a Health & Safety Manager to effectively lead and manage the plant’s safety and health processes through and with the management team by identifying and anticipating concerns and hazards; developing and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures; and conducting studies and investigations. This individual will maintain safe and secure  working environment by establishing and enforcing security policies and procedures and overseeing security guard force.

     

    As a Health & Safety Manager, your responsibilities will include:

    • Leading the site in developing, implementing, and maintaining the Plant health and safety programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State, Local, and Corporate regulations and guidelines and create a culture that promotes safety excellence and strives for zero injury operations.

    • Maintaining processes and procedures to ensure that safety reporting content and timeframes are met and that the quality of the information provided correctly and clearly reflects the compliance status of the facility.

    • Directing the plant security programs, procedures, and personnel to ensure access control procedures are sufficient to provide for the physical security of plant personnel and assets on plant property.

    • Leadsing in Incident and Injury investigations.

    • Accomplishing a successful First Aid Responder team at the site.

    • Supporting and driving an experience through activities including interdepartmental safety walks

    • Serving as the company safety representative to the local public.

    • Developing and implementing site safety improvement plans to ensure progress towards continuous improvement and overall company goals.
    • Ensuring the continued development of behavioral based safety program(s) at the site.
    • Leading the site in change from output to input measures.

    • Write and implement training programs to ensure employees know their personal responsibilities concerning safety matters and to support the development of a culture that promotes safety excellence.

    • Establish and maintain working relationships with legislative and regulatory agencies/representatives, industry peers, and community leaders to ensure Ingredion interests are represented and equitably considered in formulation of emerging regulations or laws through active participation in industry safety forums, ad-hoc special purpose committees, and other community events.

    • Understand the need to build trust and confidence on all levels within the organization.

    • Have the ability to effect change through persuasion and good communication.

    • Work within a union environment to ensure employee engagement in the Health and Safety realm.

    • A self-starter with a strong work ethic.

    • Have a high level of integrity and sincerity. 

    Qualified candidates will have:

    • Bachelors or Master’s degree in scientific or engineering discipline of equivalent in experience.
    • Greater than 5 years’ experience in safety, health, and environmental management.
    • Significant, direct, and practical experience dealing with safety and health issues in an industrial plant setting.
    • Relevant credentials such as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or equivalent, or the ability to become certified within 18 months, and significant experience with progressively increasing responsibility in the areas of environment, health, and safety.
    • Experience implementing and interpreting regulations such as OSHA.
    • Field experience auditing plant operations.
    • Knowledge of the basic principles and implementation of physical site security.
    • Excellent problem solving skills.
    • Medical, Fire Prevention, Security Defense knowledge.
    • Good investigation techniques to find root cause and proper corrective actions.
    • Good speaking and presentation skills.
