Ingredion is hiring a Principal Technical Service Technologist to provide technical expertise and support to customers for a broad range of food & beverage applications. The Principal Technologist will assist our large Consumer Products food customers in the US/Canada region, in new product development and creating customer valued solutions. Activities will include maintaining excellent working relationships with technical individuals at key customer accounts, promoting functional ingredients and solutions, conducting bench/in-house, pilot plant and production scale trials at customers and performing troubleshooting investigations.
As a Principal Technical Service Technologist, your responsibilities will include:
Demonstrating knowledge of the company’s technologies, by promoting functional value-added ingredients & solutions and their applications in customers’ products via phone/e-mail, face-to-face meetings, presentations, and at trade shows.
Having overall technical responsibility for 2-3 Key & National accounts. Building strong customer relationships with key technical individuals and decision makers.
Working in collaboration with other Customer Solutions & Product Innovation (CSPI) team members, sales, marketing and our Global Applications group to give technical leadership in recommending solutions to customers and build customer value to execute our goals.
Building and maintaining strong customer relationships with key technical individuals and decision makers and also developing and conducting trainings for customers.
Managing multiple customer projects to help prioritize, develop and implement Specialties growth and Customer Segmentation initiatives and meet business goals that align with our strategic priorities.

Qualified Candidate will have:
MS/BS in Food Science/Food Engineering or related discipline with 3 to 5+ years of experience in the food and beverage industry. Strong Food Science/Food Applications background and technical acumen.
Creative, hands-on concept development and formulation experience using laboratory and/or pilot plant equipment.
Proven experience in interactions with ingredient manufacturers or consumer good manufacturing companies preferred.
Previous starch technology experience, microscopy techniques knowledge, and familiarity with product formulation software is desired.
Strong knowledge of common food processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions such as starches, hydrocolloids, fats, proteins etc., is a plus.
Demonstrated project management skills and experience in executing work and delivering projects on time.
Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement and statistical data analysis preferred.
Have a professional affiliation to a professional association (food industry is helpful).
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills (technical reports for internal and external distribution, presentations, etc.). Ability to conduct customer presentations.
Ability to identify new business opportunities with customers and deliver value added solutions with a sense of urgency
Ability to travel 35-40% of the time.
