    Position Location: US Home Based

    Reports To: Director, National Accounts U.S Ingredient Solutions


    Ingredion is hiring a National Accounts Manager to leverage relationships and improve profitability at select key accounts in the US and Canada. The National Account Manager will negotiate high-value, ingredient solution contracts to meet volume, revenue and stretch targets. You will develop the sales opportunity pipeline by making initial customer introductions, presentations and value propositions to national accounts, coordinating company resources (technical, marketing, regulatory, etc.) to advance customer projects, and negotiating and finalizing customer contracts for basic products and specialty ingredients. The position also solicits and communicates customer feedback to other functional groups within Ingredion and works closely with the National Accounts Director to define the sales strategy and tactics.


    As National Account Manager, your responsibilities will include:  


    • Professionally and profitably sell Ingredion’s products. Meet volume, sales and profitability targets in the territory for basic and specialty ingredients.
    • Develop close working relationships with buying influencers at existing and prospective customers to improve Ingredion’s profitability.
    • Skillfully and expertly communicate pertinent information about the Company’s ingredients to national accounts. Relay information within Ingredion as it pertains to overall prospect and national account needs.
    • Negotiate price/volume contracts with customers
    • Grow the business by identifying new business opportunities and transform the opportunities into sales.
    • Recommend business development tactics, potential pricing strategies, account targets and other information to the Commercial Management Team.
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of food industry and the competitive environment to facilitate business development efforts and to keep other Company team members informed of changes and developments in the market.
    • Share industry knowledge with other Company personnel to facilitate sales strategy. Work with technical, marketing and specialty sales personnel to develop business on specialty ingredients.
    • Introduce new ingredients to customers. Obtain “voice of customer” feedback on prospective new ingredients.
    • Maintain productive and effective relationships with colleagues to ensure rapid flow of meaningful information to meet business goals. Provide input for marketing department to support sales growth.
    • Execute administrative activities in a timely and cost-efficient manner as it relates to opportunity development, travel, expense reports, general report writing, and other matters. Document and track key activities as required.
    • Advise appropriate Ingredion departments (e.g. Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics, Customer Service, and Product Management) about customer issues. Facilitate resolution of customer issues with support of appropriate internal departments.
    • Orchestrate appropriate technical assistance and oversee interactions between customers and other Ingredion personnel.
    • Work with Global Account teams to accomplish Global Account goals.

    Qualified Candidate will have:

    • Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of sales and/or business development experience calling on major food & beverage companies and deep understanding of, and contact in, those markets.
    • Experience in food ingredients/sweeteners or agribusiness industries.
    • Proven ability to sell ingredients and/or sweeteners to multiple buying influences (including purchasing, marketing and R&D).
    • Experience negotiating complex high-value deals.
    • Successful experience running complex business development/project processes.
    • Confirmed experience handling multiple projects or tasks at a time.
    • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team.
    • Excellent oral and written interpersonal skills.
    • Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office programs. Familiarity with preferred.
    • Ability to travel frequently.
